Ellicott, London, No. 7948, bearing the London hallmarks for 1784. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold pair cased quarter striking and repeating clockwatch. Double body outer, the bezels pierced and engraved with a floral decoration, the back engraved with a flower bunch within a leaf garland. Double body bassine, inner, engraved with flowers and pierced with scrolled foliage. Engraved dedication on the edge, dated 1803. Gilt brass dust cap. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gold "poker and beetle" hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain steel three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock and diamond end-stone. Striking train with fixed barrel. Repeating on a bell with an independent work by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dust cap and the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
