Sold for:
34,500 CHF

A Monsieur Belin Watch No. 2785, completed on 14 October 1963, sold on 12 July 1966, for the sum of 15,000 Francs. Gold self-winding watch, with winding indicator. Notes History: Captain Peter G. Belin, the original purchaser of this watch, was the owner of an important collection of antique pocket watches. The collection was, in fact, largely put together by his father Ferdinand Lammot Belin, Secretary to the Minister at the United States Legation in Peking, where the dissolution of the last Chinese dynasty presented an opportunity to acquire a wide range of watches made specifically for that market. Sold by Sotheby's in London on 29 November 1979, the collection totalling some 195 lots contained six Breguets, although this watch was not included.
