Vivier L'Aîné à Rouen, circa 1730. Very rare and fine 20ct gold and enamel French oignon watch,in the manner of Mussard. Double body "oignon", enamelled overall, the bezel with a finely painted landscape, the back with a portrait of Diana the huntress framed with a landscape matching with that of the bezel. GiIt brass with Roman numerals on enamel cartouches, outer enamelled Arabic minute ring (restored), the center chased with scrolls and birds. Gold Louis XIV hands. GiIt brass full plate, with baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with scrolls and foliage. In very good condition. Diam. 58 mm.
