Sophie N. Schuyler (American, b. 1872) Paris Scene, probably the Luxembourg Gardens. Signed and inscribed "S. N. Schuyler Paris." l.l., inscribed "Sophie N. Schuyler/ 1872-..." on the frame backing. Pastel on paper/board, sheet size 14 x 16 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Toning and acid burn to the reverse, sheet adhered to window mat with masking tape. N.B. The artist is also known as Sophie N. Schuyler Dey (Mrs. Henry Dey). Because the work is sealed to the window mat with masking tape around the edges, it is not possible to determine if the pastel was done directly on the paperboard or done on paper and then backed with the paperboard.
