Four Shaker Graduated Oval Covered Storage Boxes, America, late 19th/early 20th century, each with bent maple sides, the lapped seams fastened with three to five fingers with chamfered edges secured with copper tacks, pine tops and bottoms, natural finish, (imperfections), ht. 2 1/2-5 5/8, dia. 6-13 5/8 in. Condition from smallest to lagest: smallest- several scattered dark stains or burn marks, a few insect holes, two small holes pierced on either end perhaps to dispence thread; second- appears to have been painted red at one time, crack around top rim of box about 3 1/2 in. ending with a loss about 2 1/2 x 3/8 in. , several scattered dark stains or burn marks; third-a few minor small dark stains, finger on cover has a small split at the tip; largest- the cover has a 6 1/2 x 1/2 in. repair and associated cracks on one end, and a crack about 4 1/2 in. on side oposite finger, several cracks around base where joined with wooden pegs.
