Grenfell Hooked Mat with Seagulls, Grenfell Labrador Industries, Newfoundland and Labrador, early 20th century, composed of silk, cotton, and rayon jersey strips, depicting three seagulls in flight, 21 1/2 x 14 in. , mounted in a contemporary wood frame. The rug does have a label. It does come out of the frame fairly easily and has four stitches holding it on to the backing. Looking at the back it has faded to nice soft blue tones; there is a small 1/2 in. dia. brownish spot at lower center and a few bits of fraying around the edges.
