Edward Hopper (American, 1882-1967) Night Shadows, 1921, edition of approximately 500, published by the New Republic, New York (Zigrosser, 22; Levin, 82). Signed "Edward Hopper" in pencil l.r., label from Associated American Artists affixed to the backing. Etching on wove paper, plate size 6 7/8 x 8 1/4 in. (17.5 x 21.0 cm), framed. Condition: Margins over 1 1/2 inches with deckled edges, margins glued to facing mat, mat burn, toning, small loss to corner of margin u.l., glue residue to upper edge on verso. The sheet measures 10 1/2 x 14 3/8 in. All 4 margins are glued to the facing mat. The verso is toned, and there are several fox marks (most very pale; one darker one along the plate).
