Jamini Roy (Indian, 1887-1972) Horse and Rider in a Tanga Signed in Bengali l. r. Tempera on card, 17 3/8 x 24 1/2 in. (44.1 x 62.2 cm), framed. Condition: Minor losses, not examined out of frame. Old glue residue to the reverse of the sheet, disadhered tape hinges, minor skinning to former tape hinge l.l. verso, very minor craquelure and losses. Provenance: Birthday gift circa late 1950s to early 1960s from a friend who was a German Merchant Marine that traveled extensively to India, to the present owner, private Rhode Island collection.
