Robert Salmon (Anglo/American, 1775-1844) Smugglers, Moonlight with Lantern Signed and numbered "No. 607/Painted by Robert Salmon" in ink and inscribed "1829" in pencil, probably in a later hand, on the reverse. Oil on panel, 9 1/2 x 12 1/4 in. (24.1 x 31.1 cm), framed. Condition: Small losses/abrasions to u.r. quadrant, alligatoring, surface grime. Provenance: A private Massachusetts collection. Two small losses/abrasions to panel u.r. approx. 1/8 x 1/8 in. each., the work may benefit from a cleaning. The craquelure is fine and stable.
