Frederick Childe Hassam (American, 1859-1935) Woodland Scene , c. 1880 Signed "Childe Hassam" l.l. Watercolor on Michallet laid paper, sheet size 18 3/4 x 23 7/8 in. (47.6 x 60.6 cm), framed. Condition: Paper tape hinges, paper restoration and patches, tear to u.l. quadrant, acid burn verso, deckled edges. Provenance: Cyril Joseph Bowdring, Washington, D.C., to a private collection by family descent. N.B. We wish to thank Kathleen M. Burnside for her assistance with cataloguing the lot, and the work will be included in the forthcoming Childe Hassam catalogue raisonne by Stuart Feld and Kathleen M. Burnside. Paper tape hinges, paper restoration to l.l. corner approx. 7/8 in. in length, to right edge of l.r. quadrant approx. 1/2 in., tear to left edge of u.l. quadrant approx. 1/4 in., approximately eight paper patches throughout, the longest restoration is approx. 1 1/2 in. in length (to the u.r. quadrant), acid burn verso, deckled edges.
