Grain-painted Decorated Wooden Box, America, mid-19th century, rectangular form with wire hinged overhanging lid and bun feet, grain-painted top, sides, and bottom, the top decorated with a floral medallion and scrolled foliage in black highlighted with creamy white, the interior lined with paper and a printed Gothic-style label with polychrome castle and cottage scene flanked by urns of flowers, (top slightly bowed, minor wear), ht. 4 1/8, wd. 12, dp. 8 7/8 in. wood appears to be pine joined with rosehead nails, no repaint seen under blacklight.
