Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1795-1875) Cheval Turc No. 2 (antérieur gauche levé, terrasse carrée) Signed "BARYE" and foundry stamped "F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR" in the cast on base, also incised 703/ N° 1" in cast on the underside of base. Bronze with dark brown patina, approximately 11 5/8 x 12 7/16 x 4 7/8 in. (29.5 x 31.6 x 12.4 cm). Condition: Minor wear to the patina, minor surface grime. Provenance: Descended within the families of William Walters (1819-1894), and/or George Harold Edgell (1887-1954).
