George Ehrenfried Grosz (German/American, 1893-1959) Acrobatentänzer , 1915 Unsigned, with stamp from the George Grosz Nachlass on the reverse, inscribed "TR 1479. 186" in pencil l.r. and "LyNr 1248" in pencil on the reverse, identified on a partial label from Retina Gallery, Inc., Boston, on the backing. Ink on laid paper, sheet size 11 3/8 x 8 7/8 in. (28.9 x 22.5 cm), unframed. Condition: Subtle handling creases, tape hinged to backing mat. Provenance: Estate of Eleanor Kanegis Levin, East Gloucester, Massachusetts. N.B. We wish to thank Ralph Jentsch who kindly confirmed the authenticity of the lot and assisted with its cataloging. The work is registered as no. 3-40-4 with the George Grosz Estate, and will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonne of the artist.
