Edward Matthew Ward (British 1816-1879). 19th century oil on canvas painting of two women in an interior. Painting depicts an older stern looking woman seated in a chair holding a cane in her hand at center wrapped in a red and fur robe with a black bonnet. She is attended to by a young beauty wearing a cross necklace, who pours wine for her in a room with a red curtain and pedestal base table. Typed label attached on verso of stretcher “E.M. WARD”. Framed 17.75 inches x 15.75 inches. Unframed 12 inches x 10 inches.
