Sir Frank Dicksee, P. R.A. (British, 1853-1928) The Duet Signed and dated "F. Dicksee. 1897" l.l., with a label from M. Grindley, Liverpool, England, on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 24 x 33 1/4 in. (61.1 x 84.3 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, craquelure, small punctures/canvas deformations, abrasions, surface grime, varnish inconsistencies. Craquelure throughout, alligatoring to pianist's dress and train, subtle canvas deformations, minor abrasions along tacking edges and frame liner, surface abrasion to u.r. quadrant measuring approximately 1/2 x 1/2 in., surface abrasion to u.l. quadrant (in the area of the stained glass windows) approx. 1/4 x 1/4 in., test cleaning spot in the u.r. quadrant. (on sheet music), approx. 3/4 x 1/2 in., test cleaning spot in the l.r. quadrant (at the hem of pianist's dress) approx. 1/2 x 1/2 in.
