Extremely rare redware bank, 19th c. in the form of a beetle with wings, 8 legs and protruding eyes and snout, with overall black manganese splash decoration on an orange glazed body resting on a round plinth, found in Shepardstown, West Virginia, 2 1/4" h., 6 1/2" l. This bank is probably a unique form of folk art sculpture.
