Georg Jensen Sterling Bowl, 1915-27, no. 773, flaring body with hammered surface, on low, openwork stem of leaves and flower buds, ht. 4 1/4, dia. 7 1/8 in., approx. 13 troy oz. Provenance: Engraved to underside with owner's name, "Gordon Mendelssohn," the name of his yacht, "Quartermore," with date 1936. This bowl was part of a suite of Jensen tableware used on the vessel. Mendelssohn was a wealthy notable in Detroit, Michigan, and a patron of the arts. The Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre at the University of Michigan was built through a donation Mendelssohn's in honor of his mother. minor usage wear, including very slight rim nicks, and light interior surface scratching.
