French Silver, Lacquer, and Paste-set Snuff Box, late 18th century, oval, with pink lacquered ground, the lid painted with a scene of two classical maidens and a cherub, mounted throughout with multicolored faceted paste stones in floral garland and snake formations, the interior with tortoiseshell lining, ht. 1 3/4, lg. 3 3/8 in. Cracks to lacquer. Scattered loss to paste. Chip to edge of tortoise-shell on lid interior.
