English Miniature on Ivory, late 18th century, oval format, painted en grisaille with a mourning scene of a couple in a landscape, beside a mother-of-pearl urn on pedestal accented with thin gold bands and minute seed pearls, the scene set under glass in a red leathered case, sight lg. 2 5/8, case lg. 3 1/2 in. Loss to seed pearls. Circular void in paint beneath woman's feet. No longer centered within case. Leather case with age typical wear.
