Manner of David Teniers the Younger (Flemish, 1610-1690) The Essence Vendor Unsigned, identified on labels affixed to the reverse and to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 13 3/4 x 10 1/4 in. (33.7 x 27.1 cm), unframed. Condition: Lined, retouch, scattered paint losses, craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: Purchased at auction in Boston, November, 1844, by James Tolman. Labels on the reverse state, "Bought as a Tenier...by James Tolman...at the time of his marriage in 1844..."
