William Huggins (British, 1820-1884) Resting Lion Dated and signed "1883/W. Huggins" l.l., identified on a label from The Fine Art Society, Ltd., London, affixed to the frame backing. Pencil and pastel on paper, 7 3/8 x 10 5/8 in. (18.7 x 27.0 cm), framed. Condition: Sheet trimmed and laid down to mat board support, mild toning. Mat board support is hinged to window mat in two places along top edge. Reverse of mat board support has abrasion l.l. corner, acid burn, and brown paper tape around the edges. Sheet size is 7 3/8 x 10 5/8 in., subtle mat burn.
