Jules (Jean-François-Hyacinthe) Laure (French, 1806-1861) Portrait in Profile of a Young Woman with a Red Drape Signed "Jules Laure" l. l., with a canvas stamp "...Belot..." on the reverse, and with a label from Foster Brothers, Boston, on the back of the frame. Oil on canvas, 21 3/4 x 18 3/8 in. (55.2 x 46.5 cm), framed within an arched liner. Condition: Small puncture u.c., craquelure, surface grime. Foster Brothers label on the back of the frame lists an Order No. "836-F", minor retouch to u.l. quadrant measuring approximately 1/4 x 1/2 in., small puncture to u.l. quadrant measuring less than approximately 1/16 x 1/16 in.
