Scottie (Robert) Wilson (British, 1888-1972) Lot of Two Works: Firescreen and Composition Each signed "SCOTTIE" l. r. and identified on labels from Brook Street Gallery, London, affixed to the backing. Pen, ink, and colored crayon on paper, sight sizes to 19 1/4 x 15 in. (48.9 x 38.1 cm), each framed. Condition: Not examined out of frames. Provenance: Estate of an arts benefactor, New York. Firescreen is on blue paper. It seems to be fully laid down on the backing board, and the window mat is glued in place, making it impossible to open to measure the sheet size. There is a stray ink mark in the l.r. corner just above the signature. The framed dimensions are 24 1/4 x 19 1/2 inches. Composition shows rippling to the sheet in the center. Sheet (white) is laid down along the edges to a secondary paper support (dark brown). There is some soiling to the sheet, and also a repaired tear or crease to lower left edge, measuring about 1-1/2 inches. The window mat is glued to the backing board, so the mat could not be opened for examination. The white sheet size is 11 x 7 1/2 inches (27.7 x 19.0 cm). The outer dimensions of the frame are 19 1/4 x 15 inches.
