Jimmy Ernst (American, 1920-1984) October-Sunday-Newport , 1980 Signed and dated "Jimmy Ernst 80" l. r., dedicated "TO DORIS, WITH LOVE, FROM JIMMY" l.l., titled and also dedicated "For Doris Sullivan from Jimmy...a grateful man" on the reverse. Gouache on paper, 14 1/8 x 20 in. (35.9 x 50.8 cm), unframed. Condition: Tack holes to u.r. and u.l. corners. Provenance: From the artist to Doris Sullivan, his counselor during his 28-day treatment at Edgehill, Newport, 1980; private collection, Warren, Rhode Island.
