Chippendale Cherry and Maple Tall Chest of Drawers, Levi Webster, Enfield, New Hampshire, late 18th century, the case of six thumb-molded graduated drawers on a elaborately cutout bracket base centering a drop pendant, brasses and escutcheons appear original, old natural surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 57 3/4, case wd. 36, case dp. 17 1/2 in. Note: According to a note found inside the chest, it was built by Levi Webster of Enfield, New Hampshire. Webster, who was a cousin of the statesman Daniel Webster, built numerous pieces of furniture, including rope beds and at least one drop-leaf table. minor loss to thumbmolding in corner of second drawer, thumbmolding losses to bottom-most drawer.
