Wallpaper-covered Hatbox, America, c. 1845, the oval box depicting a pair of ruffed grouse with trees in pink, white, and red against a blue field, the lid depicting a hunt scene on a blue ground, (losses and wear), ht. 11 1/2, lg. 18 3/4, wd. 13 1/4 in. The lid has large losses around rim; some separation from top; paper is buckled a bit down the middle; the base has scattered losses and edgewear; the bottom of the box is split and has some separation at the ends.
