Tall Wallpaper-covered Hatbox, America, 19th century, the oval box and lid depicting a bird sitting in a tree encircled by blue swags and tassels above a vase issuing flowers, (wear and losses), ht. 14 1/4, lg. 17 1/4, wd. 13 3/4 in. Provenance: Clifton Anderson, Lexington, Kentucky. The lid has edgewear and losses; some exposed seams; box has scattered losses, especially around bottom edge; some separation from the bottom.
