Attributed to Robert Hale Ives Gammell (American, 1893-1981) Spring Awakening. Initialed and/or dated indistinctly "R..." l.l., with a partial label, possibly from Frost and Adams Company, Boston, on the reverse, inscribed in a later hand and with a label from Carl E. Nelson, Boston, on the frame backing. Oil on academy board, 11 3/4 x 18 in., framed. Condition: Retouch, mild surface grime. Inscription on the reverse states that the painting received a light cleaning in 1998. Retouch in area of sky, u.l. quadrant. The inscription on the reverse reads, "Bought 1905 in a park in Boston where the painter was painting it by a Boston woman, the mother of Ruth McCorack..."
