European Hanger, 18th century, with double edged blade, cast brass semi-basket guard and tassel pommel, iron wire on grip, partial leather scabbard, lg. of blade 31 in. This sword carries extensive 20th century material stating that this sword belonged to Captain thomas Munson, 1612-85. Munson was an early settler of New Haven and reportedly used this sword during the 1637 Pequot War.
