John Whorf (American, 1903-1959) Copley Square, Rain Signed "John Whorf" l. r., titled on the reverse, identified on a label from The Milch Galleries, New York, accompanying the lot. Watercolor on paper, 15 3/8 x 22 5/8 in. (38.6 x 57.5 cm), framed. Condition: Small tack holes at edges, mild toning and tape/glue residue to the reverse. Outline pencil sketch of house and barn to the reverse. Glue/tape residue along perimeter of the reverse. Toning to the reverse. Some subtle toning and perhaps mild acid burn along top of sheet, recto. Sheet hinged to window mat with archival tape. Tack holes, probably no more than 8 total, in corners and at top edge.
