Schermerhorn & Co., makers, maker's cartouche with 14 Bond Street address, made up of twelve gores with individual countries lightly shaded in pink and pale blue, coastlines hatched, oceans showing major shipping routes and transatlantic submarine cable, North America showing territories and Dakota as a single state, labeled with Equatorial, Ecliptic, and Improved Analema, on brass axis mounted on turned ebonized stand, (two areas of plaster loss [one stabilized], some light lifting of gore seams, small crack in area of maker's cartouche, axis slightly bent, gouge near South Pole area).
