Carved Italian-style Settle, upper section enclosed with a register of carved palmettes around the back joining the arm supports, which are carved with grotesque-masks and pendant swags, all raised on cassone-style lower section with a hinged internal compartment under the seat and high relief carving of men fighting grotesques above an acanthus-leaf carved molding around the base, ht. 35, wd. 57 1/2, dp. 22 1/4 in.
