Giulio Rosati (Italian, 1858-1917) Arab Horseman Pausing to Quench His Thirst Signed "G. Rosati" l.r. Watercolor on paper, 21 1/8 x 14 1/8 in. (53.8 x 36.1 cm), unframed. Condition: Minor paint losses, small crease to u.l. corner, accretions, soiling. Small abrasion with paint loss (1/16 in.) l.c. in horse's front left foot. Small accretion (1/16 in.) in left heel of boy in the front. Scattered foxing to the sky. Soiling to edges most pronounced in sky along upper left edge. Crease to u.l. corner measuring 3/8 inch, with area of paint loss measuring 1/4 inch. Gentle crease to u.r. corner (2-1/2 in.) which does not appear to break the paper surface. Drips to sky u.l. quadrant. Reverse with glue spots all along perimeter from prior mounting, and foxing and toning to the reverse.
