Brass Surveyor's Transit with Tripod Base, Philadelphia, late 19th century, with brass frame, 9-in. telescope, altitude scale on graduated half moon arc, 4-in. dia. silvered compass dial with maker's name "Heller & Brightly, Maker's Philadelphia 1899," cardinal points in block letters, spirit levels, vernier read-outs; tripod base with wood legs and brass mounts, serial number 8239, ht. 47 in. Stand may be later. Both stand and transit with age-related wear.
