Jess Blackstone's Painted Wood Trade Sign with Robin Figure, New Hampshire, mid-20th century, miniature carved and painted robin figure perched on a piece of driftwood with two chains suspending a small hand-lettered wood sign advertising "All Bird Models Made of White Pine," overall ht. 8 3/8 in. Provenance: Acquired from Jess Blackstone's widow, Edie Blackstone, the sign Jess took to all the fairs. Tip and small area of Robin's tail with minute paint loss, one wire leg separated from branch.
