Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796-1875) Tigre qui marche (sur plinthe) [Walking Tiger (On a Plinth)] Signed "BARYE" within the cast l. l., marked "F. BARBEDIENNE. Fondeur." on the reverse. Bronze with greenish-black patina, 8 3/8 x 16 1/4 x 4 in. (21.3 x 41.3 x 10.2 cm). Condition: Minor surface grime, dust to interstices. N.B. The present cast appears to be one of several variations referenced in Poletti modeled after a period proof. The base measurements are consistent with the première edition .
