Attributed to John Henry Hill (American, 1839-1922) Lake View with Sailboat on a Summer Day Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 22 1/4 x 27 1/4 in. (56.5 x 69.4 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered paint losses, craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: Collection of Samuel Stickney Hall (1864-1931), Montclair, New Jersey, then by family descent. N.B. Samuel Stickney Hall, a successful figure in the world of finance in New York City, was an advisor to the Hill family and received works of art as gifts or perhaps as barter for services. The painting at hand was likely received from John Henry Hill and passed down through subsequent generations of the Hall family.
