Arthur Szyk (American, 1894-1951) U. S. Rubber Co. War Production /A Political Cartoon of the Axis Alliance Signed and dated "ARTHUR SZYK N.Y. '42" u.l., inscribed "...Beauty..." on the reverse. Mixed media (ink, gouache, graphite, and paper) on illustration board, sheet size 9 3/4 x 12 5/16 in. (24.8 x 31.3 cm), unframed. Condition: Craquelure, rubber cement residue and masking tape with tissue to the reverse. Fine craquelure to gouache, very minor paint loss to Mussolini's hand below signature less than 1/16 x 1/16 in., naturalistic hand holding eraser is rendered in graphite--it is paper-collaged and glued on top of a hand rendered in ink; no additional condition issues to report.
