Blue-painted Shaker Blanket Chest over Drawer, possibly Watervliet, New York, early 19th century, the molded lift-top above a deep well and drawer below, on cutout base, original paint, ht. 40 1/2, case wd. 38 1/2, case dp. 20 3/4 in. Note: Included in the lot are photocopied entries from diaries, personal account books, and estate inventories that appear to document the purchase of the chest directly from the Shakers in the late 19th century, and continued ownership through the mid to late 20th century by John Haydock of Troy, New York, and his family.
