Nicolaes Wicart (Dutch, 1748-1815) Fishermen on the River Lek, the Village of Lexmond beyond Signed or inscribed "N. WICAR [ sic ] f." within the composition l.l., initialed indistinctly l.l., inscribed "t dorp Lexmond. aan de Lek" in pen, possibly in the artist's hand, and "Wicart N." in pencil on the reverse, identified on a label affixed to the paper backing. Ink, watercolor, and ink wash on J. Kool laid paper, sheet size 9 1/2 x 13 9/16 in. (24.1 x 34.4 cm), framed. Condition: Acid burn, toning, mat burn, minor foxing, glue tacked to u.l. and u.r. corners.
