Ten-panel Folding Screen ( Songhakdo ) , Korea, 1907, Yang Gihun (1843-after 1919), depicting five cranes with pine and bamboo trees, inscribed with a couplet by Shi Yannian (994-1041), a poet from the Northern Song Dynasty, signed "Seok-yeon No-eo" with three seals, each panel 78 3/8 x 12 7/8, painting 50 1/8 x 12 7/8 in. Provenance: 1966, gifted to Don H. Miller (d. 1969), then the President of the Skelly Oil Company (now Getty Oil), by Mr. Kim Jonghui (1922-1981, aka Dynamite Kim), the founder of the present Hanwha Group; 2007, sold by the estate of Mrs. Miller (d. 2006) to Maurice Powell, a dealer in Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2008, sold to the present owner in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Note: Available is a letter regarding the screen from Mrs. Dynamite Kim (signed "C.H. Kim") to Mrs. Miller. It is dated on May 31, 1966, with its envelope stamped in Korea on June 1, 1966, and postmarked in the U.S. on June 6, 1966.
