Aaron Willard Mahogany Wall Regulator, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1830, the timepiece form with painted iron Roman numeral dial and signed Aaron Willard/Boston , reverse-painted black and gold glasses, the hinged lower marked Regulator , eight-day trapezoidal movement with step train, maintaining power, and dead-beat escapement powered by an iron weight and regulated by a brass pendulum bob with a gilded wooden rod, ht. 50 in. Provenance: Owned by Philip L. Spalding early in the 20th century and given by him to Estabrook & Company, Boston, in June of 1935.
