British Take Down Flintlock Fusil with Two-piece Stock, c. early 19th century, walnut two-piece stock with checkered wrist, brass buttplate with panoply of arms engraved on the tang, brass ramrod pipes and triggerguard, round browned-barrel with proofmarks at breech, steel lock marked L. JONES with external safety, barrel lg. 36, overall lg. 52 1/2 in. Note: The wooden forestock was replicated and replaced by Robert Fisch, and shot at the 1976 muzzle loading world championship in Versailles, France. Provenance: From the collection of Gerald Stowe, former curator of arms and armor at the West Point museum.
