John Littleton and Kate Vogel Glass Sculpture Blown art glass United States, 1982 Composed of one each opaque white and lavender glass bags within a larger transparent pink bag, signed and dated on base, ht. 13 1/2 in. Provenance: The collection of John Boyer. Note: In this partnership the artists captured the ability of glass to retain the appearance of its hot fluidity even after cooling into a solid. In a catalog statement they wrote, 'With the bag, handkerchief and favor forms we try to freeze some of the molten quality of the glass.' The artists' sense of play becomes more evident as the bags refer less to their inanimate prototypes than to biomorphic forms.
