Kaleidoscope on Stand, attributed to Charles G. Bush (1825-1900, American, b. Germany), designer, C.G. Bush & Co. manufacturer, Providence, Rhode Island, c. 1870s, pebbled paper-covered cardboard cylinder with brass ship's wheel-form movable fitting, supported on a turned walnut base, the circular chamber box containing multicolored glass segments and liquid-filled ampules (patented in 1873), producing geometric patterns in the viewing lens, ht. 14, wd. approx. 10 1/2 in., together with a reproduction softcover book titled The Kaleidoscope , by Sir David Brewster.
