Six Ancienne Manufacture Royale de Limoges Pompeian-style Porcelain Plates, France, 20th century, each with a different classical vignette to an iron red ground, and variant borders of grape leaves and anthemions with gilt accents, dia. 10 1/4 in. N.B. These plates are modern reproductions of a dessert service commissioned by Prince Jérôme Bonaparte and produced by Sevres in 1856. They were intended for a Pompeian-themed villa in Paris. The motifs were inspired by Pompeian frescoes in the Naples Museum. A copy of a receipt from Bernardaud Diffusion, Paris, accompanies the lot.
