Model 1816 Flintlock Musket and Bayonet, c. 1817, walnut stock with a light cartouche on the left side, and the number 20 stamped on the right side of the butt, steel fittings, the tail of the lockplate marked SPRING/FIELD/1817 , and marked with an eagle over US in front of the hammer, barrel tang dated 1818 , the breech marked with a P and V with an eagle head, steel bayonet with no markings, barrel lg. 42, overall lg. 57 1/2 in.
