"Mouse in the House" Watercolor Whimsey, reportedly the work of Alice Ashwell, 19th century, a card inscribed with a verse, above a circular watercolor showing a thatched house, the watercolor very finely cut and the edges glued down, so that when a small piece of thread applied to the house's door is pulled, the paper extends, revealing a picture of two mice and chunks of cheese, card size 9 x 8, watercolor dia. 5 1/2 in.
