Double Silhouette Portrait, possibly Connecticut, second quarter 19th century, hollow-cut heads and pencil details within octagonal reserves, surrounded by reverse-painted faux shell decoration and stylized gilt bordering, in likely original molded and beaded black-painted frame, sight size 4 3/4 x 7 5/8 in. Note: The subjects are identified on two handwritten labels and an early pencil inscription on the backing as Rachel (nee Hall) Fowler, who was born in 1767 in Bloomfield, Ontario, Canada, and died in 1843 in Guilford, Connecticut; and Miner Fowler, Sr., who was born in Guilford in 1763, and died there in 1838. Rachel and Minor were married October 31st, 1787.
