Paint-decorated Dome-top Box with Painted Letter Blocks, probably New England, early 19th century, the box painted black and pinstriped in red, with hinged lid above the facade having applied yellow-painted rectangle outline with ovolo corners, the box containing twenty-six two-sided wooden blocks, one side of each painted black and with an upper case letter "A-Z" in yellow, the reverse side of each painted red and with a lower case letter "a-z" in yellow, the blocks all highlighted with yellow bordering and striping, ht. 6 3/4, wd. 12 1/4, dp. 7, each block 2 1/4 x 3 in.
